am a 39 year old Indian guy settled in the US for the last 17
years, trained as a physicist and working as a scientific software
manager. Born in Delhi and raised in Bombay, I still consider
myself a through-and-through
Bombayite. So needless to say, I grew up with Bollywood movies all around me (back then they were just called Hindi films). I have always been (and I guess always will be) a complete Amitabh fan, although I prefer him in serious under-acted roles (although he does great comedy as well). I have watched with amazement (and pleasure) the rise in the popularity of Bollywood movies in the US, but am a little scared to admit that I am one of the last Bollywood fans to have finally accepted the fact that Shah Rukh is here to stay. I guess, after watching Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, DDLJ, DTPH & Veer Zaara (at gun point) I am finally beginning to understand why he is so popular. Incidentally I did enjoy all of those movies for their catchy music and inspired choreography. |
