I’m a white Canadian,
aged 22, and I first came into contact with Indian culture through
friends I met at high school. Very soon I was assimilated into
the pack, and before long they introduced me to my first hindi
movie: Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. I found the differences in language
and culture fascinating, and spent a lot of time learning more
through friends and what I could on the net. I eventually had
enough of an understanding to be able to start exploring hindi
films on my own and I’m now a devoted fan of Madhuri Dixit
and Aishwarya Rai, as well as enjoying many of the older hindi
films even better than the newer ones.
